Let’s face it: Music creation has never been easy. To create customized, production-ready music that fits right into your project is impossible without big budget.

Why?

Because a good piece of music usually equates to the result of excellent composing, arranging, editing, mixing and mastering: it’s a long and tiring process. And it often requires years of experience to be able to precisely convert client requirements to musical themes. That is one of the major reasons only very few of the musicians, or music studios, are able to execute the whole production process to create a well-done piece.

Now things have changed a little with the recent booming of AI technologies. Machine Learning models like Transformers made it possible for people to generate unlimited musical pieces on demand.

Sounds like we found an affordable solution, right? Not exactly.

Take a look at the products out there in the market now, it seems they can only be good in quality, or flexibility. And here’s why it’s hard to have both:

• Running an AI model is slow and expensive! Yet every parameter we change will rerun the model.
• Humans are still largely needed in the production(surprise!). If you change the composition, it needs to be in professional hands again to render production level audio.

While we were thinking about a better solution, we realized that there’s a more serious issue we need to talk about: The relationship between human and AI.

While AI can generate from millions of songs of knowledge, it is the user who knows best of what they want. So instead of building a workflow around AI, we want to give back control to human. And that’s why we started tuneflow.ai.

We believe there are much more outstanding AI models and music ideas out there, so we built a plugin system to help us evolve with the community.

If you have an interesting idea that can automate, like adding some drum beats, or some bass line for accompaniment, you can totally do that:

In fact, many of the core editing functionalities in TuneFlow are powered by plugins, check out the source code here. The plugin system is deeply integrated with the DAW so that you can even write a plugin to use your own AI model to generate or rearrange.

With the help from AI, song seekers are now officially song makers. When you tailor an existing song to your own needs, your work can well be a major inspiration for someone else. In fact, all of the songs we publish to the platform are open to rearrangements and downloads.
